Edit Your Profile & Privacy Controls

Fill in the essentials, share your journey across key sections, choose who sees what—and save in just a few simple steps.

1. Finish Your Required Details #

Right after you sign up (just a username, email, and password), you’ll see a friendly prompt in your profile sidebar asking you to complete your Essentials:

• Date of Birth
• Gender

Once you enter those two required fields, the reminder disappears. These don’t show up at signup again—they’re only in Edit Profile, so you can update them anytime.

2. Open the Edit Profile Screen #

1. Click your avatar in the top‑right corner and choose Profile.
2. On your Profile page, click Edit Profile.

3. Tell Your Story Across Multiple Sections #

Use the following groups to paint a full picture of who you are and what you’re seeking:

• About Me & Legacy Projects – Your personal introduction and the passion projects you’re building.
• Life Experiences – Where you are now: retirement status, major transitions, caregiving roles, and more.
• Interests & Passions – Hobbies, creative pursuits, bucket‑list dreams, and travel goals.
• Connection Goals – The kinds of friendships, collaborations, mentorships, or meaningful companionship you’d like.

You don’t have to fill out every field—pick the ones that matter most to you. The more you share, the richer your connection opportunities.

4. Set Your Privacy Controls #

Every field beyond Essentials offers four visibility options. Tap the little eye‑icon next to each field label and choose:

• Public – Anyone (even without an account) can see this.
• Members – Only logged‑in SWS members can view.
• Friends Only – Only your confirmed connections can see.
• Only Me – Private to you.

Mix and match to balance sharing with privacy—your data, your rules.

5. Save Your Changes #

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
2. Click Save Changes (or Update Profile).
3. Look for the green confirmation banner—your updates are live!

6. Review & Update Anytime #

• Preview As Others: Go to your Profile → View Profile to see your public and member‑only view.
• Keep It Fresh: Revisit Edit Profile whenever your interests, goals, or life circumstances change.
• Maximize Matching: Aim to complete a few sections—Essentials, Life Experiences, Interests & Passions, Connection Goals—for the best recommendations.
